We work continuously to create an environment where mothers and babies can stay in comfort and confidence, and to maintain and improve the quality of our service. Following a review of our costs, our rates will be revised as follows for stays from 1 June 2026.

If your application is submitted by 31 May 2026, the previous rates will apply even for stays from 1 June onwards. Guests who have already booked will also be charged the previous rates.

For guests using the Kyoto City Postpartum Care Programme, rates will also increase by ¥5,000 over the current rates. Please see the Kyoto City Postpartum Care Programme website for details.

We will continue to stay close to every guest and to provide a service in which you can rest with peace of mind. We ask kindly for your understanding.

*During the year-end and New Year’s period (December 30–January 3), a surcharge of 20,000 yen per night applies to stays of three nights or fewer, and a surcharge of 10,000 yen per night applies to stays of four nights or more.
*Guests eligible for the long-stay discount will not be charged the surcharge on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, the day before a holiday, or on holidays.

Newborn Photography

【PLAN A】 Photographer: Eriko Yatake From ¥50,000

The photographer brings a range of props and backdrops, so you can build a whole world for the shoot. Why not create memories with your baby in a setting you love?

On-location shoot, album, prop hire and digital files.
What is photographed: poses using a basket, plus a black backdrop. Family photographs can also be taken.
Delivered: 10 carefully retouched digital images plus one A5 panel print.
Delivery time: images are provided via a web album after about a month. Once you have chosen from them, the panel is produced and posted to you.
Options: 10-page album with presentation box ¥25,000 / additional A5 panel prints (one is included) ¥8,500 each

【PLAN B】 Photographer: Cesca From ¥50,000

Captures mother and child just as they are. Do keep these moments — they can only be photographed now.

OShoot length: up to one hour. Images: 10 shots, including basic editing (exposure, colour balance and so on).
Delivered: hardcover album (digital mount) with two openings, plus an A4 canvas wall print. (If you have no preference, we will make the selection.)
Delivery time: normally within 30 days (excluding busy periods, special circumstances and delays at the album factory).
Options: upgrade from a two-opening to a three-opening mount ¥8,000 / additional images: 5 shots ¥9,000, 10 shots ¥13,000 / photo editing from ¥3,000 per set of five

*Up to 30 images from the one-hour shoot can be supplied. *The plan includes 10 edited images. If you would like additional files, you must tell the photographer by the day before the shoot; without advance notice we may not be able to supply the number you want.

Happy Time Plan

The Happy Time Plan is exclusively for returning guests. We let you know about dates that have unexpectedly opened up, for example when a birth date shifts. Even once parenting feels familiar, new worries come with each stage of growth, and a full night's sleep can still be out of reach — so do come and spend another happy stay with us.
*Cannot be combined with other discounts.

On the 10th and 20th of each month we announce dates available at 10% off.

Please check the calendar below for your preferred date, then contact us via your registered LINE account or by phone and say, “I’d like to book the Happy Time Plan.” This is a great value plan—be sure to check the calendar for the 10th and 20th.

Baby room

Our Baby Room cares for your child around the clock.
For hygiene reasons only staff may enter, but we will look after your baby at any time — when you are tired, unable to sleep, or enjoying a treatment or massage.
General newborn care, bathing, growth measurement, formula feeding, and more

Care & Services Available: Breastfeeding support, bathing guidance, and babywearing/holding guidance

Meals

Five servings a day three meals plus two snacks!: The day begins with a breakfast buffet of Japanese, Western and Chinese dishes, followed by postpartum care meals from the hotel's own restaurant.

Facility

Dining Room: A space for meals with family and for our regular programmes — also for mothers to meet one another, for visits from family and friends, and for partners who need to work. Please use it freely whenever it is open.

Lobby: A space where guests can relax as they please — and a place to meet other mothers who gave birth around the same time.

Multipurpose Room: A space for classes and hands-on programmes. Newborn photography (Plan A) is also shot here.

About the Facility

About Hotel Ethnography Kiyomizu Gojo: Hotel Ethnography Kiyomizu Gojo stands just north of the Kyoto National Museum, within walking distance of Kiyomizu-dera and Sanjusangen-do. Guests are welcomed by the coffered ceiling of a spacious lobby and a courtyard adorned with a stone lantern unearthed during construction. Rooms on the upper floors look out over Kyoto Tower and the rooftops of nearby temples and shrines — a view that could only be Kyoto. We hope you enjoy your stay at Kiyomizu Gojo, where the hotel's concept comes together.
